Packed gland sealing.
Packed gland seals are manufactured from various types of fibre depending on the operating parameters: aramid fibre, ramie yarn, carbon fibre or graphite fibre, impregnated with lubricants. String packing is used for sealing glands of pumps and fittings in industry, especially in industries where effective protection against chemicals or high temperatures is required.
Thanks to their FDA approval, they can be used in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Advantages:
high chemical resistance
high temperature resistance
packing is flexible, does not damage shafts, easy to maintain and adjust
and adjustment
easiest way to install shaft sealing
various dimensions
versatility and variety of applications
FDA approval possible
Principal use:
shaft seals for a wide variety of process equipment in the chemical industry, food industry and drinking water treatment plants
for the sealing of pump glands and industrial valves

PTFE packing white with FDA:

PTFE fibre yarn packing impregnated with an impregnant approved for contact with food and drinking water, i.e. where silicone-based impregnants are not permitted. The fibrous form of PTFE strongly reduces the natural tendency of PTFE to ‘flow’ and enables a durable and effective seal.
Application:
For centrifugal pumps, piston pumps, mills, filters and screw shaft sheaths.
Used in breweries, beverage plants, shipbuilding, food, pharmaceutical, paper, sugar and energy industries, as well as wastewater treatment and pumping stations.
Resistant to: water, sewage, salt water, condensate, fats, animal fats, oils, mineral oils, cellulose, solvents, foodstuffs, alkalis, except very strong oxidisers.
